JJ Wetherholt – MLB draft (1st Round – 7th Overall)

The Major League Baseball Draft Lottery is complete, and JJ Wetherholt was the 7th pick of the 1st round by the St. Louis Cardinals.

The WVU second baseman will enter the 2024 college baseball season as a projected Top 5 pick by almost every baseball website. He rocketed up MLB Draft boards and mock drafts this spring after hitting for a .449 batting average, and being named Big 12 Player of the Year.

Unbelievable hitter. [He] won the batting title last year. Hit almost .450. Power showed up. Stole a bunch of bases. He can really, really hit. I think he’s going to go out in the spring and show that he can play shortstop,” said Mayo. “He’s played mostly second base before. I don’t know if this might be splitting hairs over some of the other guys at the top of the college list, but I think that his ability to show he can handle a premium position is what kind of gave him the very slight edge over the (next) guy.”

Wetherholt put together one of the best offensive seasons in WVU baseball history. He was a unanimous first-team All-American, NCBWA District 2 Player of the Year, and a finalist or semifinalist for a slew of national awards. At the plate, the Mars, Pennsylvania, native clubbed 16 home runs, 24 doubles and two triples, becoming the first player since 2002 with 40 extra-base hits and 36 stolen bases.

Apparel Store & Uniform Fitting

Hello,

I wanted to send you all an email with our uniform information. This email will guide you through what you need to order from the BV Uniform Link.

NOTE: The link to order your BV uniform is at the bottom of this page

FIRST THE BASICS OF THIS UNIFORM LINK:

HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO ORDER THIS?:
**  I asked Venezies to extend this store through the whole month of December. I understand its the holiday season, so I didn’t want to just give you a few weeks, please make sure you get this completed by the end of December.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT SIZES TO ORDER?:
** At the fitting you kept one paper and we took one paper. Please refer back to the sizes on that paper when ordering. If you lost your paper, please shoot me a text (724-504-6456) and I’ll send you a picture of your form.

DO YOU HAVE TO PUT A JERSEY NUMBER DOWN WHEN YOU ORDER?:
** No, I kept the one paper with your top 3 jersey number choices. I will send Venezies a list of jersey numbers for each player. They will make sure the jersey number matches your order. Again, when assigning jersey numbers seniority rules.

PARTS OF THE BV UNIFORM AND WHAT YOU EXACTLY NEED TO ORDER:

JERSEYS: At a minimum, you need to order 2 total jerseys. 1 of the BV Black Sublimated Jerseys and 1 of the BV White Sublimated Jerseys. Of course, if you would like to have multiple jerseys of each color so you don’t have to wash them on a weekend event, you are welcome to do that as well.

FITTED HAT: At a minimum, you need to order 1 Game Hat. I do not stock hats, so if you want any extra game hats you have to order them now. If you want a game hat for a family member, please order it now. Again, I do not stock hats and this will be the only time this year these hats will be available.

GAME PANTS: Each player needs at a minimum, ONE pair of White Pants with the Red Stripe AND ONE Pair of Black Pants with the Red Stripe. You can get the uniform pants through the BV store, or another store. The one thing to take into consideration is the BLACK pants with the red stripe. You will not find these in a store. If you don’t order through what we offer, then you are going to have to order from somewhere else. We are offering the White Pant and the Black pant in both open bottom and the knicker style pants.

BV UNIFORM LINK: Please click the link below to order your son’s uniform for the 2024 season. Again, please have this completed by the end of December. The link is:

Thanks and as always if you have any questions please let me know.

Welcome Tyler Barnot to the Beaver Valley Program

As you can tell from some of my emails, we are bringing in more and more staff members to create an even better baseball experience for our players!! We have also returned GREAT coaches to our program for the 2022 season: Coaches Smith, Cutshall, Farrow, Lucarelli, Chris, Todd, Nate, Ray, Lemley, Kosko, Ian, Fisher, and Yost will all be part of the plan in the BV program for the 2022 season!! In addition, we have hired several new coaches to come in and be part of our program and training of our great players!! I have introduced several of these (Matt Emge and Johnny Sansone).
Today, the BV Baseball Club wants to welcome Tyler Barnot to our baseball family! Tyler helped a little with our winter training a year ago, but will be joining our staff on a more full time basis for the 2022 season. Tyler’s impressive baseball background is as follows:
Tyler was a 4 year starter at Westminster College
Tyler was a 4 year Letter winner at Westminster College
Tyler was a 2 year captain in college.
His senior year, Tyler hit .330 and was the 2021 Team MVP
After his senior year in college, Tyler spent last summer as the Head Baseball Coach of Waccamaw Waves College Summer League team in Myrtle Beach, SC!!
The BV Baseball Club wants to welcome Tyler – we are excited to have this young and talented baseball coach working with our players!!
Thanks
Brian

Matt Emge – New Catching Instructor

BV is proud to announce Matt Emge as our new catching/hitting instructor! Matt, played BV for many years and was a USSSA All American catcher. He graduated from Blackhawk High School, and attended Ohio State University on a baseball scholarship. Matt decided to transfer to the University of Pittsburgh where he finished his degree and baseball career. Matt is a fantastic person who is strong in faith, and was a very hard working player. He has been training some of our catchers on his own time, using video analysis and advanced catching knowledge. We are happy to have Matt back in our BV program as an instructor.
Below is a short bio I asked Matt to write. You will find his contact information in this bio as well. If you are interested in catching or hitting lessons and you would like to use Matt as an instructor, you can contact him directly to set that up. In our winter training we will be incorporating Matt with our catchers to get the most development for our players as possible. Here is Matt’s Bio:
Thanks
Brian
My name is Matt Emge and I was a catcher at both The Ohio State University and the University of Pittsburgh who has stayed in the game by helping young men grow as people and as athletes. Although I started playing baseball as soon as I could walk, my baseball “career” did not officially begin until I started playing for Beaver Valley at 10 years old. It was at Beaver Valley that I started playing alongside some of the best talent in the area, and most importantly, I learned how essential it was to become a student of the game and the life long benefit of hard work.
As long as I have been able to, I have been instilling those same core value into young athletes. I was a full-time catcher for 15 years who has taken 10’s of thousands of swings surrounded by great coaches, and I am hoping to be that coach to someone else.
If interested in catching and/or hitting lessons with video instruction, reach out to me. My cell phone is 724-709-5388 and email is [email protected]
I will be around at some practices and look forward to helping anyone get better who wants to.
Thanks,
Brian
